I recently bought a Silverton 39MY and since this is my first big boat, there are a lot of things I'm familiarizing myself with on it.
I have several questions on the generator. It's an 8KW Kohler and I would like to know how much everyone uses theirs and what I can run onboard the boat without having to use it. When I was out on the hook, I ran it continuously, but that is because I had the A/C going. But if I were to run just the refridgerator and a few lights, how long could I run off the batteries?
I don't want to put too many hours on it and burn fuel that I don't have to, so I would like to know what everyone else's common practice is for using the gen set. And does anyone know how many hours a genset will last or what the fuel burn rate is?
