I want to add a 3KW AC generator to my 31' express cruiser. I have a 10'6" beam with twin gas inboards and thus I have limited space. A Westerbeke 3.0BPMG will fit when mounted transverse across the stringers. My volume constraints are 25x14x15"H. Any response to the following questions would be greatly appreciated:
Anyone have experience with this generator, good/bad?
Are there other manufactures with this form factor?
Is 3KW OK for small marine air conditioner?
I boat in fresh water. Is a fresh water cooling option advisable?
The generator engine construction is basically aluminum. Will galvanic corrosion be an issue?
The unit will be mounted very close to a halogen extinguisher. Is this a concern?
