Get-Together 2010((CANCELED))

No Area is selected yet...It was suggested that we go to the USA somewhere next year, but not confirmed or decided yet...Suggestions???...Would like to have it where the most ROs could/would attend...

When we're traveling on vacation, we tend to anchor out and seldom go to a dock. I'm going to guess this might not be typical though.

How about Alex Bay or Clayton? There is not much to do in Cape Vincent. Ray's marina is nice but I don't know if they could accommodate a large number of transients. Alex Bay gets my vote. The Thousand Islands Club has a really nice marina and facilities, including a great restaurant/bar on site (and boats, after all it is the Tiara dealer ;.) ) but besides what is at the club there is nothing to do, as it is fairly isolated on Wellesley Island. The public docs in Alex Bay fill up quick, so if we are going to do it there we should decide and reserve by very early spring.

Another suggestion is Navy Point Marina in Sackets Harbor. The town is well within walking distance. Also, if people are interested in this option I would consider hosting a barbeque/clam bake at my cottage nearby and could provide land transportation.

There is also the Edgewood Resort in Alex Bay. A Little bit of a hike into town but a beautiful spot.

A couple of us could bring cars to shuttle people into the bay if we stayed at the Edgewood.

We will be cruising the first ten day of August again next year.

Were going to make plans early this year Gary, so I hope things fall together so you will be able to make it...

I'm trying to get "The Great White Mustache From The South" (Riverbed) to wander up this way for next years gathering...Maybe he will bring the Snoop Dog with him...

After the disaterous first outing with my boat last year and missing the get together at A-Bay I'm really looking forward to next year. Got both engines finally straightened out and both drives are good to go. I think that everything that could go wrong already did so I should be okay for next year at least.
I'm still barred from entry into Canada so anything you do on the US side is fine with me.

Just as a side though....(question really)...does anyone know if it's possible to enter the Genessee River from Lake Ontario and connect to the Barge Canal System south of Rochester?

Last time I looked it up and that was a couple of years ago it was blocked by a dam. There was talk of opening it up again for recreational boats but I'm not sure.

I've been looking every place I can think of and can't seem to get any straight answers. I'be wriiten to the Rochester Chamber of Commerce but haven't gotten any reply from them yet either.

Here's a thought for a location... Go to the end of the St. Lawrence, hang a right and come to Maine!

BTW, I checked with Snoop 'cause his possee had a lot of fun with you guys last year but he can't make it. Something about working on his glaucoma problem. But 50 Cent had some suggestions that I thought were pretty good. We're coming up with a plan.

If all goes well in the late spring we'll probably be leaving here somewhere
around June 28th with no particular place to go and no specific time to be
anywhere. (more fun that way) I'm sure I'll form some sort of a vague plan by
by then but we don't really care WHERE we go.....Just as long as we're going.

Not possible - 1 damn and two sets of falls block the passage. Oswego or Welland are the only routes to Ontario from the Canal. The City of Rochester does have a nice port that is rarely used by boaters.

I would love to participate, if this is an open invite.

I stayed a week at the Edgewood last year, and a week at Navy Point in Sacketts harbor last summer. Very different places with very different advantages and disadvantages.

At any rate, any thoughts on dates?

Are we bringing the women?
