Golden Carpet

I bit the bullet and put all new cockpit carpet in. My old carpet was in good shape on top, but rotting on the rubber bottom. Got advice on some remedies, but decided to buy all new. Golden Carpet did a great job, actually better matched to the curves than the original.

The binding is not quite as durable looking, but time will tell. Overall at this point I give them a high rating once you get past the order process which was an interesting experience.

Brad...... they do great work... Did you go with the all rubber backing.....or the new ribbed back ??? and what color ?? Toast ?

The binding is good.....never had a problem with it until last week. I dropped the engine hatch door down onto the edge of the carpet at the binding and it seperated.

He has to restich it for me.

Don, It was installed yesterday, the color is the Sea Ray Sand Pebble Berber, I think that’s what it is called. It has the rubber backing, did not get an option, maybe Michelle forgot ;-) . But I have to say the cost was much less than I thought, so I am happy.

Please be careful. Phrases like "...did a great job" and "cost much less than I thought" could cause a stampede on a boating forum.

Is ribbed , a ribbed rubber?

Seroiusly, what is ribbed, what is the advantage and does it cost alot more?

No.....One of the new marine carpet Golden sells is ribbed ...its not full rubber backed. The ribs are about 1/2 wide (rubber) coated with a material to prevent it from sticking to the engine hatches.....even when they get hot.
I didn't compare the cost to the stock rug......I didn't care....I was tired of pulling up the old rug...and leaving chunks of black rubber stuck to the hatch covers. I'm a sucker for new technology.

Works well....very happy with it.......

Cost will depend on size and style. For my 320 it was around $350 installed with snaps.

Give'm a call.....speak with John or John Jr....... they will come to your boat to measure..... then come back and do a complete install..........great guys.....you'll like their work.

I had them do my upper swim platform too......plus he put bindings on some scraps.....and made " throw's " for the boat.
