http://www.faroblancoresort.com/marina Ever since the old faro blanco closed about 12 years ago, marathon has been going downhill with a few older marina and trailer parks.

It s reopening later this month with a renovated Marina and a Hyatt hotel.

Finally a nice destination between Miami and Key West!

Maybe we will check that out later next year!

Which one, the Oceanside or Bayside? The Bayside was totally wiped out, pool, lighthouse, etc. flattened, Oceanside still has some infrastructure standing.

Bayside. That's where the hotel was witht the marina and the lighthouse. Ocean side was just the Marian

Lighthouse still there (or rebuilt) judge by the pictures

I just received an email back from them, not good news for my 2 week xmas trip down there:

Thank you for your interest in visiting us here at the new Faro Blanco Resort and Yacht Club. I am enclosing a couple of attachments with our
rates, site layout, and other pertinent information about the property.
Unfortunately, due to construction delays of various sorts, we are not looking to open along with the rest of the resort on December 16th. The marina opening is likely to be closer to the 15th of January , however it could by slightly earlier depending on construction efforts. There is also enclosed information with directions to our reservation website.

Robyns Nest; faro blanco will open on mid or late Dec call them to see what the opening date is. I am in Marathon and faro blanco is a very nice marina. The last info I has was given they would be open at the marina on the Dec 16th info was by Phone not email.

I received this message today from them. When did you speak with them?

We had been hoping to stay there on our trip down from the 22nd-26th but received the same email. Instead we will be at conch harbor on key west for our days there.

Robins Nest I received the call just before Thanksgiving the woman that call said that they have pushed the contractors to complete the marina on time. I may stop by the office today to get the current updates.

In south florida contractors are usually not the problem but permits are including final inspections.

Our concrete pier collapsed in theater back in June or so The marina has been moving us around whatever slip is one ever since. Th problem is permits. Even though it is just a repair, the do an county city state bureaucrats are dragging their feet. the cotractor installed a new concrete slab within a month but can't hiok up the power and water till the permits come in, they finally got them in this week.... 4 months of delays, loss income for th marina and loss of sales tax on the slip for the state.

Ok Pascal you could be correct. Talked to Marlisa at the marina and that she is the one that called me. will not get into it but she said I was on a call list but to come in b4 the first of the year. Now they do not seem to have a clue. So the best bet is to call Marlisa at 305-393-3987. her email is mgarrelt at spottswood dotcom. The Dock master was in training for the dock hands so could I not talk to him. don't know if this helps. I am happy just looking at the mile bridge and enjoying the very warm weather.

Pascal where is your sense of humanity? Think of all the jobs those permits and red tape generate. ;)

We went to the opening of the Faro Blanco hotel. They said that the marina will not be open until January 16th. From the looks of the progress that could be a push. The good news is construction will start in 2015 on the Faro Blanco Marina Atlantic side (Boot Key Harbor).
