A little stumped about what to do... Hanging out at the boat for the first time this year. It's in the water! We get to the boat and find what looks like a fried egg on the swim platform, a very large fried egg. I clean that up and wonder what aerial mishap resulted in that landing there. Then a few minutes later I walk up to the bridge and discover a momma (or maybe poppa, who does sit on goose eggs?) goose sitting on an egg having made a lovely nest in the middle of the dinghy cover. We've been hissed at more times than I can count and I've now been charged twice by very angry looking geese. Oh an one flew into the side of the boat trying to make a point (I'm not sure what that point was..) So, now what to do about the egg. I'm pretty sure that if I move the egg the geese won't find it. If I don't move the egg but then move the boat I'm pretty sure that will make two fried eggs on the swim platform. The boat is currently in the water in her winter home and should be moved from there to her summer home, about 15 miles, later this week. Google says a goose egg takes 28-30 days to hatch and this one has only been there a maximum of twelve. Suggestions? I'm open.

Sounds like American geese. Best thing to do is pre-heat the BBQ and go from there.

Place a call to your local wildlife officer to remove "nuisance wildlife". They will get rid of the birds for you.

Oil the eggs. That prevents oxygen from getting through to the embryo. The geese don't know from a dead egg. If you remove or destroy the egg, the geese will simply make more.

Last season, we took a cruise around Cape Horn on a big boat, over Christmas time. We had goose on that boat. Tasted great.

The geese hate dogs. They will run. Get a dog.
Chuck the egg.
My dog destroys their nests they make at our marina.
Yes sounds mean but ther are those Canadian geese that poop everywhere.
People at the dock love watching him chase them off and they cheer
One year he caught a baby one. And he didn't kill it. He carried it around gently in his mouth as a trophy.
I made him drop it and it ran away.

Not Canadian's. Must be American Geese because it sounds like their raising a family down there. (G)

Their name is "Canada Goose" not Canadian. Many have become "American" which , of course, includes Canada but that argument can get a little touchy.

I would get rid of the eggs, if the geese charge you turn and hit them in the head. If you don't want to get that close get a ball bat, if you kill them get a wiffle ball bat. I grew up on a farm and the turkeys would case me, I turned around and hit them in the head and it stopped.

This reminds me of 2 years ago, just got my current boat, just launched. I get a call from someone there is a racoon on my boat. I race down to marina (without dog because that would of been ugly). I see racoon crawled inside my dash. I unzip canvas on bridge from outside, press the air horn, racoon scurries out of bridge down and out and goes under my finger pier. I am still not happy as he can easily climb back on. He won't leave finger, so I blast him with the hose. He jumps in water, swims to a free standing pole, climbs up and sits on top. That is where I left him after I put my rear canvas on to keep him out. Not sure if he ever made it off that pole alive or what but we never saw him again!

Try hitting your air horn if you have one!
