Garmin 168 plotter. The unit worked very well last year and earlier this year. Now, it takes an unusually long time to boot up and when I press the accept key after the legal disclaimer comes up the unit takes a long time to erase that screen and acquire sattelites. Underway, the unit is cutting out (powers off) in any rough seas.
I think the power issue is either a loose connection at the source or in the power plug/pin. I noticed some corrosion on one of the holes on the connector. I don't know if it is the + or - power pin receptacle I need to check the schematic.
Is there any way to clean the plug holes? I know there are software updates. The 168 is not supported by garmin anymore. Does anyone know where I can buy the PC to GPS connector cable so I can download the updates?
TIA
