Had a great cruise last week. Hit Dutch Harbor, Watch Hill, Mystic Shipyard, Mystic Seaport, Block Island, and Bristol RI. 10 days and 9 nights on my boat with wife and 4 kids. Had a great time but my house sure did look good when I got home.
Some comments and observations in no particular order.
Weather was a crap shoot. Sounds like it was better than back home but did see a fair number of T-stroms and rain.
Mystic is great. Need to go back. Any town that has that much to do and a dingy dock right in the center of town is my kind of place. I liked Mystic Shipyard for the pool and Glen the dock guy (who's a little crazy and grumpy but knows his stuff). Liked the Seaport because so much to do and see. And for all of you that gave me the recommendations THE DANIEL PACKER INN WAS A GREAT PLACE TO EAT, THANKS.
Watch hill was very nice and I need to spend more time there. Just one night this time. Thanks to JLC for coming to find me and introducing himself. We hit the carosel. My first BE live intro. Very cool. Thanks also to those that helped with the navigation into the harbor from Sandy Point.
Block was nice but the weather was not. Dodged a massive T-storm to get there and then faced a whole day of rain. Managed to salvage half of the second day and then left for Narra Bay in pea soup fog. Don't think I'll make it back again this season which I'm sorry about. My thanks to the BI asst. harbor master for helping me snag a public mooring on 7/2. Not an easy feat.
Bristol for the 4th. Parade was it's usual event and the fireworks were great. First time I've watched them from my boat.
I'm tired just typing this...
