Great Idea for Fenders

I've been using old firehose on the pilings on my dock forever (neighbor would give us the old stuff the fire dept was throwing out). Years ago my dad would put heavy manila line in the hose and what you ended up with was almost identical to what they have in the ad.
 
Two questions:
1) Why do the never need inflating? What are they filled with?
2) Why is this thread in the LICC forum? Are they only available on LI?? ;)

I work in RI, and am always checking the RI Craigslist for boating deals. I was thinking they may have Noodles inside of them.

Commercial links are taboo, but I don’t think Les would have anyone beheaded for that one, but you never know, Christmas is coming and he tends to get a tad cranky at Christmas, (g)...
 
Firehose is good until the fabric wears off.
Then its a nasty black rubber that makes mark.
Its an expensive toy, don't skimp!
For poles or docks they are good, fenders, not sure.
