Greenport or East Hampton?

Okay... blew it by not making reservations at Greenport's Townsend Marina in time (our favorite marina for the family). Looking to make a mid-July trip.

Now I have to figure out if we should stay at the town dock in Greenport (Mitchell), try East Hampton as some of you have suggested or somewhere else?

We've never been to East Hampton. Nice marina? Family spot? Pool? Hotel, motel or B&B for the other family members nearby? Walking distance for restaurants?

We used to go to East Hampton Point Marina. Assuming all is the same, it is a very nice place to stay. There are buildings on the premises -- not sure if they're condos or hotel rooms at this point. Beautiful pool area with lovely flowers. Small gym in one of the condos. Hang-out/lounge room with large TV.
5-star restaurant on premises (East Hampton Point). They used to have a van that would take you to town prior to 5 pm. I think there was a tennis court also.

Relatively small marina (less dock slips) compared to Townsends, but if you can get in, it's a nice spot for a change. Again, haven't been in a while, but that's how I remember it all.
