Was planning on stopping by Townsend's on my way out to Cape Cod this coming weekend but they dont have slips for us.

Does anybody have any alternative recommendations for me in that general area?

Just looking for someplace to dock the boat for two nights while we ride our bikes around.

Jeff

Mitchell Park is the town marina. It is right in the heart of Greenport. Very clean, well maintained, great dockhands. Only drawback is no pool. We stayed there several times and like it.

There are also two Brewer marinas, but they are not close to town.

Consider Shelter Island, really nice bike riding.
Coecles or Deering, though I prefer Coecles.
Cheap ferry ride to mainland!

We stayed in Mitchell Park last week great docks! Dock hands are good but the office is a little inept. When you make your reservation they give you a slip assignment they will not bend from this once you get there so make sure you are good with the slip when you book!
We also spent two nights in Coecles Anchorage which was very nice as well as a night in Shelter on a hook it was a great week wish I was still out there!

Dave, How crowded was the marina? I'm not big on leaving non-refundable deposits as I like to stay flexible during these big trips. Also, the other boat in the flotilla is not big on mooring so I'll have to save Shelter Island for a future weekend.

When I was there it seemed empty but it was likely due to the weather I believe it was sold out. I had asked for a Starboard side tie and a friend asked for a port side tie and we both got the opposite and there refused to allow us to us each others slip which would have resolve the issue it just didn't make any sense! This said it was I nice marina right in town but the ferries do create a bit of a wake coming and going all do until 10 at night, my wife felt we rock too much it didn't bother me at all. As for the non refundable deposit they are good about letting you change the date if you have an issue as long as you use it this season I believe you are OK. We changed our plans last minute and we were able to arrive and leave a day early without a problem which just called 24 hours in advance.

SHelter is not moorings.
Coecles has nice slips
I never stayed at Deering, that may be moorings only.

I never do a mooring overnight!

Dave,
We were in Mitchell field last week as well. The very last pier. I had two searay motoryachts to port and s Tiera to stb. An old 50 plus flybridge behind me.

I think being in alittle deeper into the marina would have helped us with the ferry wake.

Anyway u have two Brewer yards in greenport Sterling harbor the nicest of the two. Both are costly but comparable to Townsend. Both have restuarants on site and pools.

I like Island boat yard on shelter as well.

Lots of great choices .

The 52 Flybridge was Anchor Management the 42 was New Freedom I was next to the 52. I saw a newish 47 SeaRay express I don't recall seeing your boat there. The Tiera was two slips to my Starboard and I forget what was behind him but it too was an express. There was a beautiful Hatteras next to me the second night. We left on Saturday and spent a night in Port Jeff. Would have love to have met and said hello!

Mitchell was great for walking into town and great docks. They seem to be clueless about requests and accommodating changes. There were a total of 9 boats in the marina when we arrived and they squeezed me into a tight spot. Then at 11:00 am the next morning they told me I had to move to a slip that was open the day before so no idea why I could not have taken it in the first place. We rocked all night as I was directly facing entrance with ferries leaving every ten minutes. Also as Dave said, they screwed our port/starboard ties ups and would not allow us to switch slips. After a while you just shake your head and don't let it ruin your vacation.

We called the day before and they were able to accommodate us. I hate make reservations in advance. You should have no problem getting in on a weekday

Because we planned to be there for the weekend we made the reservations in advance as it turned out we pushed ours plans up a day so we got there on thur and left Saturday being the weather was crap I suspect a lot of boats never showed. We were told the were close to fully booked for the weekend.

Jeff, You can use the Dockwa app to make reservations at Mitchells town marina. We just spent 2 nights there on way back from RI trip.

I guess we came after u left on Saturday . I saw the hatteras .

WEre in Riverhead for the summer so were around ... Love being out East .

Ended up at Townsend. Nice place. Easy walk to town. Dock Master was not the friendliest but the dock hands were helpful. Tight squeeze for me along the bulkhead. If there any wind at all I would have had a tough time getting out of the slip pointed in the correct direction.

We only ended up staying one night due to the expected weather tomorrow and ran to Hyannis today. Only 2-3s through BI Sound but they were very close and seemingly coming from all directions (washing machine like) so we took a little bit of a beating but better than it will be tomorrow.
