Growth

Last year I needed to do a short haul so this year I used the Petit paint on the running gear. So far all is good, the only growth I have is on the tabs where I used the regular bottom paint. 1 can gave me 2 coats on props, shafts, and I took off the south bay strainers and did them too. It will be interesting to see what it looks like when I haul the boat next month.

Actually I fixed one problem last weekend.
Noticed Foward AC the unit was running and running and never shutting off.
Temp guage never changed.
Opened up berth and saw filter was caked with dog hair, Gizmo sleeps in front of it sometimes.
Cleaned that up and worked fine after that.
I guess the temp sensor is behind that filter?

Also found my aft AC every now and then would go warm, then cold again.
Went through settings and found somehow the deice got turned on to 2 minutes.
So every 2 minutes it woul kick de-ice on. I turned it off. Factory default is off.

Another option I found was I can turn my fan off when compressor goes off.
Was curious what was preferred? I switched it to that setting to try it for a while.
 
I usually do a short haul or get the diver mid season every year. In addition to bottom cleaning, I also would change the zincs.

This year I was especially eager to get it done being my first year with out-drives. Bottom and drives were really clean. Just put new zincs on and she went right back in. Zincs were at about 60%.

Instead of purchasing and installing various fittings, why don't you just flush each unit seperately, at the unit? All you need is either a small hand pump or electric pump to circulate a cleaning solution thru each unit, allow it to sit for a short time, then flush with water. I have been using diluted Muriatic acid for years and have no problems.
I suggest this because the a/c units have great access.
 
Not crazy about any acid or caustic material in cabin.
I sleep in there and those things can give off a gas or oder.
Plus if I spill that on my teak and cherry floor I will be screwed.
Perhaps off season when you can pump from outside boat that is a good idea then.

Dave after my Chili last fall, I am sure you had plenty of gas in the cabin... I think even Gizmo had some.. LOL
 
Whats the going rate for a short haul? I dont have the strength to haul the little boat powerwash and paint (never painted before going in due to mechanical issues).

does it pay for a small boat??
 
I did not pay for mine but a 28ft boat I sold recently paid $180 for the haul.
 
I was quoted $340 ($10 per foot) for the short haul. Instead I called All Island Marine Transport and he pulled it out on the trailer and I scraped the running gear then he put right back in for $100. Obviously the larger boats need to go on the lift but this worked for my 34' boat.

My AC is flowing fine, but I wouldn't mind doing a little PM to keep it that way and I saw the post about the bromine tabs.
What exactly will they do? How many? Is it safe for the system to leave them in there until they disolve? Where do you get them?
