I regularly brief my guests on the correct procedure regarding the use of the Vacuflush head.

I also ask that they not use thier foot on the flush valve (to avoid the potential Tarzan-BigFoot effect) and I also advise that they close the lid when flushing to avoid any potential splash in the face when they bend down to flush the head bny hand.

It might be nice to have a laminated instruction card in the head and I was wondering if we all could put one together on this thread?

never had any problem with big foot... i prefer to invite women on the boat though (Noami has more girl friends that i have guy friends) :-) Women of course brings issue with the T-word (are men allowed to say that word ? ) although with a VF, the offending item usually gets stuck at the DB so it's easy to clear... no tail jamming arond the macerator blade.

we just tell guest not to flush anything they haven't eaten first except for the TP and to use a reasonable amount, not half a roll.

Keep instructions simple and usually a demo works well when guests board the boat. I've found children have less problems than adults. I prefer they use their foot rather than their hand so they do it quickly and smoothly.

"Nothing, nothing, nothing, goes into the head except what you've eaten and a small amount of our toilet paper only. Water should always be in bowl before use."

To flush:

Step on foot peddle and push down firmly.
Hold the peddle down for 3-5 seconds and then slide your foot off so the peddle quickly springs back up.
Do not flush again until the vacuum pump stops.

Mercy flushes are ok.

Flush early, Flush often. I'd rather have an extra pumpout than fix a clog.

Stepping on the lever usually doesn't require training.

I thought about making a sign with a 3" circle labeled house toilet pipe and a 1 1/4" circle labeled boat toilet pipe.

interesting that VF recommend a quick release of the pedal to clean the seal.
I tell folks the head is working now. It is not a home toilet but is very reliable if used properly and if you only flush stuff after you eat it there wont be a problem and the last flusher before the problem will be the person to clear the blockage.
