By the reviews on AC, looks like a very nice place to spend a quiet couple of days and the skinny-looking charted channel is actually quite manageable for a four foot draft. Anyone here with personal knowledge or feedback?

We gave strong consideration to keeping our boat here. Facility is great, pool and tennis. Staff is really nice. Snack bar for lunch. Grounds are nice. Guilford is one of our favorite shoreline towns in Connecticut. The channel is very narrow, point your bow at the range marker, compass due north and go nice and easy. They were looking to get a permit to dredge, not sure if they did it. Really nice new set of floating cement docks. Most slips are privately owned and club manager handles placing transients. Drawback is that neither downtown or Guilford harbor are really walkable from yacht club.
Regards,
Mike

Very nice club but be careful at low tide not sure there is a lot of water. When entering or leaving stay in the channel there are rocks on both sides. I have walked mostly to the town harbor it's not that bad. Sandy took out the Mooring rest. again and Guilford did a nice job on the town marina. Very nice area

Thanks guys. Seems like a terrific stopover for a couple of low-key nights. And I carry bikes on board should I want to explore. Beating the winter slump by stockpiling new places to visit this season.

The Yacht Club is almost exactly 1 mile from the green where there are a few bars and restaurants, a ice cream and candy store, art gallery, library, jewelry store, hardware store, ATM, Guilford savings bank, town hall, catholic church, a toy store, a coffee shop and bunch of shops in between. The ride there is almost perfectly flat except the hill to go over the train tracks.

For drinks, I recommend Auger's just off the green. While there menu is modest, the food is good.

Shepp's... beer and wine only.

Beyond the green about 1/2 mile is Route 1 where there are a bunch more stores, gas stations, walmart, etc... but not the friendliest walking or biking route.

Let me know if you need more info about Guilford area.
