Gunkholing

I will be cruising along Ct and RI. in july
and staying at some marina's along the way.
But would like to also anchor out some nice
quiet spots also with my 36 sailboat.
We are taking three weeks in july and just
go sailing different location's any good
location's.

 

[Prospective]

Have not made it there yet but all my cruising guides say 3rd Beach cove to the left just as you enter the Sakonnet River From RI sound is a good place to Anchor for the night. Good protection from prevailing SE winds. Not much in the way of land amenities but a very nice beach ashore.

Another nice spot a bit further up the Sakonnet on the right which I have been to is Fogland Point. The cove just to the north is very senic and quiet with good holding ground for an anchor and good protection from all but N, NW winds.

Check out Hamburg Cove on the CT River. Nice spot for a day or two
