Saw this on another site. Poster said it was Freeport. Wonder if anyone heard or saw anything about it. Hope he had a few snickers bars on board cause he certainly wasn't going anywhere for a while. I can imagine the salvage bill.

Ouch, that hurts. Wonder if he was running at night? According to something I just read on another site the same guy did the same thing last year, and then when Sea Tow pulled him off he tried to sue them for damage to his boat while they were helping him. So now no one wants to help for fear of being sued. Might be a long wait if he's not already off!
Yeah John, that's where I got it from. I read the same thing too. Serves him right then, unless the damage was due to gross negligence by Sea Tow, but I seriously doubt that. I don't see how you can get him off without a crane and not do some damage. I don't understand how you do this twice. Must be stupidity but then you think to afford that boat he must be smart enough to make a lot of money.
Folks, I live and dock across the canal where he hit ground (Hudson Canal). Supposedly, he was there since Friday night's high tide. He finally got off late last night (Saturday). We all periodically checked on him throughout the day, and sure enough, he was there. I took some shots of the boat also. Here's the kicker, God must have blessed him, because I just saw him and his wife eating dinner at Bracco's on the Nautical Mile (Sunday 4p). I gave him the thumbs up, got out of the mess with his pride hurt, but boat was fine. Someone at the bar joked that he was trying to save money and do his own bottom paint.

Yes Rob, he hit about 100' short of the channel, behind the 5 MPH sign and large, "Hudson Canal" street sign. Neighbors told me that Friday's high tide covered the marsh, so maybe his eyes were playing tricks on him. Here's another shot:

Looks like a 2001 to 2003 Silverton 42C. Pretty weird that he did not bend a shaft or a rudder, glad all worked out.
I am thinking he lost power, and drifted where he was, then the tide went down, this would explain why there is no damage.

IM thinking he missed the channel....
Its marsh nasty smelly soft stuff...
I cant tell u how many times i stuffed my Jetski in that stuff... running tru the little snake bends and opps they end... u go flying about 50 yards and have to hump the ski and urself back to water... NASTY..... worse then quick sand...
But yea he planted her.... underpower...

With the high tides we've been having the marsh may have been underwater which makes it a little tricky. A few years back we were in Freeport for a fishing tournament and there were tides over the marsh Friday night and fog. When we headed out Saturday morning there were 3 boats over 30' up in the marsh in different spots.

Ok, maybe a dumb question, but who cuts the marsh grass? I really thought it just died turned to compose / marsh and re-grew in the spring. How do they get to the inner spots ?
