I am planning on redoing my canvas after the coming season on my '86 2897 Mariner. I was wondering if anyone has ever seen this boat with an aftermarket hardtop? Just wondering how it would look. The canvas drives me nuts, I am not friends with the sun, and would love to just have curtains to contend with. Without an arch, I don't know that this would look too good though.

Also, has anyone seen a cockpit cover like the one on this boat: http://www.yachtworld.com/core/list...rency=USD&access=Public&listing_id=67111&url= ? I like the idea of it, just wondered how it would look. This would me more of a priority for me before a hardtop.

Thanks,

Jim

I am a recent Carver owner and would be interested in whatever you find out. I just purchased a 1987 28' Voyager and would really like a hard top on it. I don't know about the looks of it but it sure would be a lot less trouble than a soft top with curtains. Thanks.

Jim, I like you do not tollerate the sun well, and a hard top would be nice on our 28 mariner....Im just guessing it might be tough on a smaller boat like ours (ie. adding a lot of weight to the top of a 28 footer). I 'd love to hear what you come up with tho. I'd love to add a radar arch to mine, but really cant justify the 1500+ bucks right now. As for the link you sent, that type of cockpit bimini can be made up by any good top maker, tho I must admit that is the uggliest bridge enclosure Ive ever seen. I considered having a cockpit bimini made until I found an anchor shade ....it's basically a giant umbrella for the cockpit with tie downs. Ive posted a pic here, but Im not sure how well you will be able to see it.
