Man am I sore - spend two days working on awkward parts of the boat. Even on the dry it is a bear to work on.
Took the leaking steering ram off and rebuilt it and replaced it (a first for me and I got to swing the largest wrench I have ever seen thanks to the local arneson dealer loaning it to me). Removed the trim tab hoses and am having new ones made (one blew out so the others are not far behind).
Hacked off all the old zinks and cleaned it up for new ones.
Disassembled the water intake systems for the motors and half the engine room to get at them and bored 2-inch holes in the hull for scoop-type water pick-ups. Rain would not permit me to 5200 them in place but everything is ready to do it one night this week. kneeling under the hull is 6 inches of rainwater was really fun.
Hope to have the hoses back on tonight - rest of week will fire up motor on a garden hose to test steering ram seals, get the tab indicators calibrated so I know where my drives and tabs are....and get the throughulls glued in and a hoses/strainers/zinks re-installed.
Might be adding ventilation snorkles too if I can make the time.
What fun!
