Has Any Body Tried Flex Tape?

Marina neighbor, knowledgeable former commercial mariner, used it on his bimini to stop leaks along the center seams and to repair where thread was pulling through. He applied the tape on the underside of the bimini on his enclosed bridge about a month ago. So far he is pleased with the results, but we haven't had much rain to test the leak-proofing.

I have a roll of something, I think its called rescue tape.
Does the same thing but designed for boats, which means twice the cost!

This stuff is a little different from rescue tape. Rescue tape is self adhering, where as this has a water proof adhesive. You cannot put rescue tape over a large hole in the hull.

Ok, well if you order now, I will throw in 2 rolls for the price of 1.
LOL

Seriously, flextape reviews are not so good, rescue tape are.

Could just be another made for tv product that looks good on tv but does not work in real life!

As GeeBee pointed out, Rescue Tape has no adhesive and will stick to nothing except itself.(I.e., "self-amalgamating" or "self-vulcanising".)
Often used for insulating wraps on itself over electrical splices or connectors.
Not the same as strong adhesive Flex Tape at all.

I don't think either one is particularly suited for holding in or back fluids under any pressure without add'l support.

You got some links?

Perfect timing for this product question. This past weekend a local TV station tested the Flex Tape claims. They duplicated the same fixes as seen on tv. They all worked, even slapping the tape on the gushing barrel of water. It stood up to all the commercial claims.

Interesting. I am going to get some and try it.

That's certainly impressive Flex Tape apparently will adhere pretty well when wet since most tapes will not.
But just keep in mind most of those demonstrations have large holes in the container of water to show impressive leak flow, but the holes are only maybe 6" or less from water top surface which at 6" deep creates only 0.22 PSI. Even at 1'depth it's only 0.43 PSI above ambient .

I'm betting that the demo with the cut in 1/2 skiff showed the boat powering along with tape nicely applied before the shot of Phil Swift cutting the boat, or one just like it, in 1/2. Oh, skeptical me.

But that said it could be very handy tape due to the strong adhesion, especially if used to have water pressure pushing it into the hole.

I actually have 2 4'x5' rolls (black & white) of Flex Tape my sister recently gave me as a haha b-day present, but I've not yet had occasion to stop an essentially non-pressurized leak or had to tape back together a boat I've cut in 1/2. :D
I suspect she watches TV for the commercials and not just during the Super Bowl.
