Taking the outdrive down to the metal, and sanding is taking a LONG TIME. I bought something today but wanted to see if the peanut gallery has tried it... Savogran Super Strip. Says it is made for marine use, non-flamable, etc.
Quote from their website:
A non-flammable heavy duty remover for those extra-tough jobs. SuperStripВ® cuts quickly through built-up layers of paint, varnish, polyurethane or adhesives on wood, metal or masonry. It is ideal for cleaning concrete workshop floors or removing tile mastic. It also removes marine finishes. Surfaces can be cleaned with the water wash-off method. Recommended for outdoor or well ventilated indoor use.
Directions say leave it on for 20 minutes or so (gel) and scrap off. Of course I will keep it away from plastics and rubber...
