Hatch cover repair

I have entry hatch that has a crack going through the cover. It looks like lexan or plexiglass. The trouble is Seaswirl doesn't have parts for the OMC seaswirl boats so just geting a new part doesn't look to be possible. The crack is about 4 inches long I'm thinking I will fill it with a two part clear epoxy adhesive.
 
I have to admit an ignorance about Seswirl Boats. However many Mfg use standard hatches thru out their boats. I believe I would look for a Mfg stamp somewhere on the trim etc.
 
Instead of using epoxy, suggest that you contact www.ipscorp.com and discuss the application with them. The best type of bonds for plastics are those that actually weld (melt) the plastic and become a uniform part, when the solvent evaporates.

Another option would be to contact Seaswirl directly, and find out who manufactured the OEM part. I'm pretty sure that they would have had these produced by an outside vendor.
 
At the least, you can measure the hole size and replace the whole thing if you cannot get just the part you want.
 
BobV1 is correct. Most of the doors are acrylic or maybe polycarbonate(lexan) and there are special adhesives that fuse it together. This would be a cleaner and stronger repair than using the epoxy.
 
Wish I would've checked back with the replies after 14th. I went with the epoxy repair it may have helped some but not all to happy with the repair.
