Going through the Welland Canal for the first time on a delivery down to the Florida Keys. This will complete "The Loop" for me. Looks like good weather for the next few days and hopefully into Manhattan were we will stop for a couple of days. Should be a fun trip.

Yeah I've never done the Mich. to NYC part of the Loop. Thanks for the fuel tip.

I'll post some pics and one of the guys on board is running some GoPros. He's making and editing a video of the whole trip as we go. I'll post a link to any videos he uploads.

Bill - are you going up thru Montreal, or Oswego? Have you considered the Erie from Buffalo (rather than the Welland)??

Oswego. Couldn't do the Erie from Buffalo. Boat to tall. We are in the Erie at lock 21 right now.

St. Johnsville is just east of Lock 16, please post the fuel price, it is usually the lowest on the system.

Thanks Bill. Safe Travels, and give us one blast as you pass us at Greens Cove on the Hudson!

You sure did catch Lake Erie in a good mood

Niles

Yes they did. And Ontario was almost flat calm as well. We have been very lucky with the weather so far.

Bill, where are you now? I had dinner on the canal in Utica last night, and saw no boats. You are hitting unseasonably warm and beautiful weather. It's a long shot, but I'd love to say hello to you before heading home tomorrow.

So sorry to miss you Nancy. We are docked at the Albany Yacht Club for the night. And you're right, the weather has been fantastic. This has been one of the most beautiful trips I've ever taken. Plus you always seem to meet the nicest people along the way.

Here is some more video shot the other day.

Very cool Bill. Will there be a video of you guys going through the Thousand Islands?

When they came out of Welland at St Catharines they would of headed east and stayed along the south shore of Lake Ontario and to Oswago to re-enter the canal systems.

Bill, after leaving St Catharines did you have to stop to "re-enter" the US or did everyone have Nexus cards?

Niles

Great videos - I can't believe your luck all the way across Erie!

I noticed that you appeared to have left from the Belle Isle area in a 453MY, and that flat wake suggests that she's powered by QSM-11's. (is she?) My first reaction was to check if an acquaintance at the DYC had sold his boat, but I don't think his had that hard-top...

The plan was to have video of the whole trip. But the crew member doing all the video work have to get off in Albany unexpectedly.

Which really sucked on several levels. Not the least of which is the loss of his planned video work.

We entered via video phone at the marina just before the first lock. The name of which escapes me at the moment. No Nexus.
