Hi everyone. I'm new to the forum and I want to introduce myself to other Long Islanders. I own a 2006 Formula 40pc with IPS and I boat out of Al Grover's in Freeport. I've been boating for over 50 years. I boat with my 2 sons and their "significant others." I love boating and I consider it a lifestyle and not a hobby. I truly like my Formula, I consider it an extremely well made boat and no, I do not have an consternation with forward facing props (lol). I have over 500 hours on the boat and (knock wood), I haven't hit anything as of yet (the last couple of sentences have been my attempt at humor).
As most of you are aware, Hurricane Sandy did a "job" on the South Shore. My marina and a great many boats were severely damaged by the storm. I was one of the lucky ones, no damage at all. I am looking forward to getting back in the water and hoping the channels, canals and bays are debris free. I suspect they won't be.
During the summer I usually go East from Freeport, spend some time in Zach's, Great South Bay and occasionally go to lunch on Fire Island. I also take one trip each summer, sometimes East and North and every once and a while, up the Hudson to Kingston.
