I don't want to bottom paint Al Prisco's (soon to be OUR) boat. It's just too pristine, and it would be a shame.
It will be on the Hudson in Yonkers. I probably can't trailer it, so it would have to be lifted.

1) How often should I pull it out and power wash it if I decide to not paint?

2) Anyone have any other options beside Jet Dock or the Air lifts? I called JD and they said the profile on this vessel is too high for their product to be effective and the Airlift systems are a bit scary to me, judging from another thread in here.

Honora, I've had an Air-Dock for 5 1/2 yrs and based on my recommendation, many boaters I know have gotten one. Best money I ever spent for the boat! The problem you read about was caused by user error, not the air dock itself. In fact, I have some PFD files from them I'll email to you to explain how it should be set up and the boat secured. You only need the bladders inflated enough so that the raised outdrive is a couple of inches out of the water.

And their 5 yr warranty is rock solid! My biggest fear when I first had it installed was that I would slash it with my prop, but the design prevents that from happening.

Before I got it, I hauled and power washed my boat spring summer and fall....and I had bottom paint!!!

Botoom paint the boat and do yourself a big favor, and use an ablative paint

Hauling the boat and acid washing the bottom is no fun, it has to be done every 2-4 weeks, not worth it in my opinion.

And Air Dock on the Husdon river is asking for trouble with all of the sticks, tree limbs debris floating in it.

I'm in the CA Delta which is drainage for the Sierra Mountains. Especially in the spring, we get tons, literally, of debris washing downstream. I've never had a problem with any of it. However, if you are really worried, string some of those floating noodles on the upstream side to deflect the debris.

BTW, the rubber used in the bladders is a very heavy gauge which does not puncture easily.

Before I had the lift, I had ablative paint and still had to pull the boat at least 3 times from May to September to keep up with the waterline and transomoutdrive growth. It is hard work which would take two of us 2-3 hours to complete. I sure don't miss that!
