Greetings........

Hey guys, I wanted to ask if you could kindly keep an eye out over the next couple of months to help us locate our next boat?

We were fortunate (given the times) to sell our 30' Doral Prestancia privately this past summer and are now looking to purchase our next boat. Ideally we would have this new boat in our boat well for this coming May.

We are looking for a well maintaned fresh water boat with sterndrives in the 31 - 34 foot range preferrably in model years of 2000 - 2005.

One of the boats that keeps coming to the top of our list is the 328 Four Winns. However a well priced 3372 Cruisers, 31 or 34 Formula PC or similar boat we would certainly consider.

Our home port is on Lake St.Clair and our boating area includes Lake Huron and Lake Erie. All Fresh water.

Maybe you know of someone who has considered selling who hasn't listed yet, or maybe you know of a great buy out there?

Anyways, if you come across something, I'd like to hear from you.

I understand there are some great deals out there, the challenge is to find them. :)

Thanks,
Mike.

We wanted to try and keep our purchase price somewhere in the $70,000 - $ 90,000 range.

With the drop in boat prices over the past two years and the current economy we hope this price range will offer us the opportunity to move into a suitable boat as generally described above.

Thanks,
Mike.

I'll sell you my 3372 for $75k.

Just kidding (sort of).

We purchased our 2003 3372 over the summer and got a great deal. I liked the Four Winns, but my wife didn't like the aft cabin entrance or the cockpit seats with the gap behind them. There was a beautiful Formula next to the boat we purchased and it's still for sale. It is a bank Repo so they will bend drastically. Check out this link. If you want more info call Stephen Parker at Jackson Marine and mention you heard about it from me.

It sounds like you are hesitating on buying. Many really nice 328's have been put in front of you. Would you like one delivered?

GSENT,

We don't intend on hesitating in our purchase, actually, we are trying to make progress with our purchase. Hence the reason for the post.

I have contacted a couple of leads that have been forwarded to me. One we did place a written offer on and another they had a bank note on their boat for greater than their boat is likely worth and as such they felt they needed to evalute their sale. I will be following up on others in due time.

Our boating season is still at least four months away. My goal is to purchase a well maintained, well priced boat that will provide as much enjoyment for my family as our last boat did.

With the financing plan Formula had going the last few years I bet some of the 34PC's you find are this way.

We are going to the Toronto boat show in 4 weeks and a couple going with us are looking in the same size range…I will take notes if I see anything like you want. Do you really need to have stern drives?

Good luck
Niles

Thanks Niles,

My wife and I will also be at the Toronto Boat Show on January 9th. Great Boat Show and we are looking forward to reviewing the inventory of boats listed there and making some sales contacts.

Regarding sterndrives, I have only had sterndrives. A 25' Doral Citation and a 30' Doral Prestancia. With the twin 5.7 litre engines in the Prestancia I likely got spoiled cruising at 30 MPH. I know if we went any larger than 34' the sterndrives really wouldn't be an option anymore.

Due to the shallow waters we sometimes boat in, being fresh water only, the higher cruising speed and improved fuel economy we prefer sterndrives. I guess though, we should not completely rule out inboards in the size we are looking at pending condition of boat and price.

I appreciate you keeping an eye out for us. If your friends have a couple models of boats they have a preference for, I'd be more than happy to keep an eye out for them. I've been spending a fair amount of time lately with boat searching.

It took us almost two years to sell our boat, I'd like to buy and hold this next boat for a number of years and be happy with our purchase.

Thanks again,
Mike.

Thanks Dave,

That 3075 Cruiser would be an excellent buy for someone. Looks clean and well priced.

My wife would like a boat in beam between 11' and 12' for more room in the galley with our growing son. The 3075 Cruiser (at 10'4" in beam)is only 4" wider in beam over our Prestancia.

Nice boat though......

Mike.

Mike, I will let you know if I see anything out this way. Not much out here that is that new. There is a boat in our club for sell; it is a late 90's Silverton express 34' with inboards. I don't know much about it other than it is in great shape. I'll get more info if you want. As far as our friends goes I'm not sure what they are looking for but I did send them the link to that '86 Silverton listed here on BE. Looking at the pictures it looks like it is on the Clinton River.

Good luck
Niles
