Basic, i know but important and i'm sure confusing to other folks new to making the outside of a boat look good. When you talk about the steps in removing oxidation, waxing then shining up the hull I understand the basic steps so far, but what about the proper tools to use?

For example, I have a palm sander that can use course or soft pads, a good drill and elbow grease. Which do i use for the various steps? I assume I can get a rotary sanding/polishing.buffing? attachment fr my drill, but what do i use it for? What should I get for this?

Can the palm sander be used for the same stuff a drill can be used for, or is the circular motion required?

Which part(s) are done by hand - or is that only for spots the tools can't get to?

Thanks as always for the help. I can't wait to get my "new" 1985 19' BR in the driveway for a week to get it "looking sharp" (or, as "sharp" as an old boat can!
