Help Planning a Trip in the Chesapeake Bay

Glad to hear things went well enjoy the trip!
What kind of boat is it?
 
SPJ, sounds similar to the trip I need to eventually take. What type of boat did you purchase? Like you I'm concerned about the Delaware Bay part of the trip.
I'm currently in the Middle River (Maryland) but want to get the boat to my home marina in Little Egg, NJ.

Billy, what's your concern with the Delaware Bay? If the weather is decent and, particularly, if you can make that part of the trip early in the day it should not be a problem.

Let me know when, I have made the trip (in reverse) a couple of times. I will go with you

It is a easy trip, most of the time. The only concern is when the wind opposes the tide. Then the Delaware Bay can get very snotty.
 
Again, Thank You everyone for your suggestions.

Our stops ended up being:

Annapolis - Ego Alley
Sassafras - Skip Jack
Chesapeake City - Schaefers (Brunch Stop Only)
Bordentown NJ

The owners ruled out Baltimore, as they have been there by land, and did not want to go back. We did stop in Tolchester, but they decided they would rather not stay. Pool was small and full of kids, the band they had coming for the night was a Country band, between the two the owners wanted to move on.

They loved Skip Jack, and did not mind the long ride in.

The boat was in immaculate condition when we got there and passed the survey with very few issues. The only the surveyor found that needed immediate attention was a loose bonding wire on one of the fuel fills, I corrected that as he continued his survey.

The boat ran perfectly for the entire trip.
 
Sorry, I did forget to post what kind of boat, No it is not a go fast, if is was we would have been home Friday Night. The bay was that flat. It is a 1989 Carver Santego. They have been looking at this model for two years, and it is the third one thay had surveyed.

Salvatore, someone needs to tell Yachtworld, that boat is sold! LOL. That is the one, and I can attest to the fact that the owners loved that boat and took great care of it.

There are a couple of minor issues that need to be dealt with, but one would expect that with a 1989 boat, but most of them are minor, and the new owners new about most of them before we went down to survey and buy the boat.

The main issue I have with the boat is I do not think it is propped correctly. I am waiting on the final survey report to see what props it has, but it seems to me we were a little low on the top end, and had to spin to many RPM's to get to cruising speed. Also fuel economy was pretty bad, but that is subjective. I will probably start another thread on that, but we were running 3800-3900 to get the suggest cruising speed on 18 knots. with WOT only getting about 21-22 knots, and that was with glass like conditions.
