Help with Locating a Cradle for tender on bow

I can't seem to find someone that makes cradles that will hold a tender on the bow of my boat.

I had UMT Marine in Florida make some custom sliding chocks for my swim platform mounted tender. Not cheap, but absolutely high quality with excellent technical support.

I may have a great deal on a crane that Silverton installed on the 45c and 50c. Now looking at cradles and a tender. Thinking about a new 13 or 11 Boston Whaler.

Someone else also recommended UMT, same feedback as you.
 
Bigger is better on the Whaler. People in the Bahamas that have 13's wish they had a 15'. They tend to be a rough ride (at least the older ones).
Our 13' AB dink with a 40hp is "ok" in up to about a foot of chop. It's not comfortable in that but it is "ok".

I can get a great deal on a 2015 13 Sport BW. two questions, not sure if you can answer, but maybe someone else.

the lift is rated at 800lbs, the 13 whaler with motor is going to come in at 856 pounds, thought?
 
Walter, no doubt there's some wiggle room in the max 800# capacity, but I'd be careful with the limit.
 
I'd talk to the manufacturer, but I would also talk to Silverton to find out the structure of the deck. It's probably cored. Don't forget a pole will probably come through the deck and into some room down below. You will want to line this up with a bulk head to prevent chewing up too much space.
I almost bought a 14' AB aluminum dink. It would have been a terror with a 40 HP Etec on it. Hindsight says yeah, that is what I should have done. Especially if you leave it out of the water most of the time. Just don't paint the bottom they say. I never did get to test one in chop. But they are light and this would certainly be plenty of room. And it is light enough.

I have the same davit you are looking at. Mine is the 800 lb version that I modified to be a telescopic version when I added the UMT chocks. In general I am very happy with the davit although maybe 5 years ago I had to replace the winch and solenoids. My dinghy is only 600 lbs, so it is easy to manipulate. When it is in the full extension position the main davit body does not flex at all, and this is with the lever arm out, so I would guess the main body would not be the lifting limit, it is over built.

Since your boat weighs in at 856 lbs, I am guessing that is without fuel so you could be close to 900 lbs loaded. I would guess the winch motor and mechanical winch mechanism is what imposes the weight limit. 100 lbs over the limit is really pushing it, especially in dynamic situations with boat rocking/dinghy swinging.

Otherwise, Nautical Structures in like UMT, they make an excellent product and you get what you pay for.
 
The deck is cored with Divinicell (sp?). This is a very water resistant type of foam.

I have been through this a few times and was always amazed at the actual total weight when it was ready to lift. When I have weighed the 'accessories' and added those to the empty boat and outboard it becomes eye opening....
- Battery
- Fuel
- anchor ,line, lines, jackets, etc
- safety stuff, oars, added pumps switches etc
- actual water left in bilge

I was never near the original published weights when I was done.

Rick, good to hear that about the lift. Two questions, how much was such the repair you had? More about the cost of the parts. I was told the motor was not a lot. Second question, what tender do you have?

I was told the cost for just the Crane is 13k or so, plus shipping , plus this plus that. They will quote you if you go to their site.

The motor was not a lot, maybe $250, but I had to go to the winch manufacturer directly to get the parts. It was 10 years old and gets some spray being a swim platform mounted davit.

For the tender I have an Achilles 11 ft 6 in RIB with a 30 hp Tohatsu and a St Croix Eurohelm. Under 600 lbs and has great power to weight ratio. I went the Eurohelm route as they provide more internal space relative to a center console RIB. I think it is easier to dive and spear from and probably carries more people.
