2000 Carver/Trojan 440 Express sliding cabin door adjustment needed - The door slides perfectly with one exception:
When fully closed, the latch easily moves and releases to open, but you have to pull with a lot of force to start the door moving. Once it is moving it slides easily.
It seems like it is catching, but it is not at the locking mechanism. It seems as if the door is out of square and it catches on the frame and then slides perfectly. Small area of paint being worn away by frame.
I have located two screws at the top and bottom of the door, both were loose. Tried tightening, no effect. Tried loosening, it seemed to work for a while, but went back to being very tough to open. Also seems to be chipping away at the center track paint and some alum scrapings also present from track.
Access is available behind the helm, but it would be a bear to remove, hopefully there are some other ideas.
Thanks again in advance! Pictures to follow tomorrow if necessary.
