We are planning to anchor in Hemlock cove on Friday evening until Sunday morning. We're headed to Costco tonight to bu steak, pre-cooked Angus burgers and bread. Anyone is welcome to tie up with us if you don't trust your anchor.

Tom,
Steak and potatoes, now your speaking my wifes language. I am a beer and burger guy.
Ok, lets see how it goes. We have never slept on the anchor, I don't trust my anchor. Plus with the dog now, I will have to be near beach. Unless, you want to try and go to Cedar as well. Non resident is like $65 for a night.

Tom,
Sounds great, but we are heading to Watch Hill tommorow morning thru sunday.
Why not try watch hill for a change? They take reservations, so you have to call Friday AM for a slip.
If we don't get in, then we may be in Hemlock.

What's their contact number and how much do they charge? Captain and I will discuss about it.

Thank for the tip.

Dave, can you also let us know how we can get to Watch Hill safely and how long is the trip?

Thanks in advance.

Tom & Lisa

Tom its about an hour from ss3 .
They start answering the phone at 8:30am. the # is 1-631-597-3109

Rob

Rob gave you the dirt, cost is $1.75/foot plus like $6 for electric.
You need a special adapter as all they have is 50 amp service, so I am not sure what you are.
They do rent adpaters.
Your size slips go fast.
I am running there Friday AM after I get my reservation, you can follow along if you like or follow these directions, very easy.

Come out of SS3 canal and head east toward RM bridge in North Channel. Go under bridge and stay in north channel. Plenty of deep water all the way there. You will go past hecksher park, oakdale, sayville, blue point. Look for green 35, when you see this you can start heading south, slightly east. There are red and green buoys marking the opening to watch hill. They are paired up and they are tight, maybe 50 feet across. Locate the red buoy , I think it's labeled WH2 and keep this on your starboard, then split the buoys like a football thru the goal post. There is 2 lights at the end and this is a range light. It is good for a night, but basically if you keep the 2 lights on top of each other, you are dead centered in the canal. DO NOT stray outside this channel....extreme shallow water. Take it in and slow down as you enter the opening, again stay centered between the wood canal once inside. Dockmaster is straight ahead. More than likely if you have a reservation you will be on "D" or "C" dock, which is to you right when you come in. Get your ropes ready as you come into marina, plenty of people will help.

If you decide you want to follow me out, let me know. I figure I will get to boat by 10 or 11. Email me if you want cell #.

In this chart you can see green 35 and the entrance to Watch Hill.

Tom,

I was planning on staying at Hemlock this weekend. If you are there I'll dinghy over to introduce myself, or you are welcome to stop by if you see us.

We look forward to meeting you, Rob. Do you intend to stay overnight?

Tom & Lisa

Rob,

It's 10 am, Saturday and there is a Sundancer 330 anchored right in front of us...not sure if that's you though because the dink is covering the boat name. Hopefully its you .....we will try to say hello later.....

Tom & Lisa

Met Rob and Laurie...very nice couple. Btw, met "Biddy" too....so adorable!

Both Rob, Laurie, Lisa and I are staying overnight. Are you coming? Lots of boats out here today about 70-80.

Hey.......that's a new ice cream boat! Is that the same guy that's out there every year or is this someone else???

Tom & Lisa,

Great meeting you guys. (Lisa, I won't tell anyone about the great burgers you made us - wouldn't want everyone in the Cove creating a crowd at your boat.)

Beautiful boat. See you guys again soon.
