Here comes the first of the year. Tropical storm Andrea. Lets hope its the last.

Suppose to be a heavier than average for tropical storms/hurricanes season. Of course, hopefully this has little direct meaning to us up here. . I thnk it's time we finally discuss who has the best marina for less then ideal situations like this. It's long overdue.

We know which marina will come to the rescue, and which one will turn boaters away...

Last year it was the end of the season and many had already been hauled out for the season so there was room for additional boats, during the season you may not be as lucky. If you are concerned about what if then you are better off being in a safe place to begin with rather then expecting others to help out in a time of need/concern.
I'm waiting for the storm to kick up and then I'm going to practice docking in the wind:)

So far a non event down here. Yes, we had some rain and a few palm fronds come down. Otherwise, not as much rain and wind as you might expect. Hopefully it doesn't strengthen.
We have another band of weather coming at us in Ft Myers now.

It looks like it's going to be a rain event here in NJ.
My wife and I are still going to the boat tomorrow for the weekend. We might get wet provisioning.

I like being in a marina that I dont have to flee from when a storm approaches.

Yeah, but when it's a little windy, you have trouble docking and have boats banging into you.

Not me. I practiced during Irene. I did hear that someone with the same last name as mine in your marina could use a little more practice. Please send her out on Saturday to figure this out.

I was referring to the "universal you".

I will send her over to blue dock to practice on Saturday...

Sorry. She asked what marina she should put her boat in and I told her PBM. I have a whole peninsula for a buffer zone. Good luck.

At least she's on the other side of the dock... We'll teach her, she'll be a pro by the end of the season.

A few years ago in my last marina there was a boat on the other side of the dock then me he came in bow first right up the dock and I thought he was going to hit me, Scary to watch!!!! He slid back down the down and right out into the fairway then he decide to pull into another side and take out the water on the dock. He was a nice old man but it was time for him to retire from boating:(
I hope you have better luck with your new dock mate!

+1000 This alone is worth the extra money!!!

She claims to have a relative on blue dock who said she should come over there.

The rain has started is it here for the weekend? Or is this a sample of what's to come?

I'm afraid it's here. Just spoke to a friend who lives in central Florida and he said he got six inches of rain and some pretty heavy winds.

Weren't you already on land? Didn't a hell of a lot of boats that were where you get destroyed? Didn't you suffer damage?

So I guess you paid the "extra money" for nothing.

The season was over then now we are in mid season and I happy to be right where I am! I'm not seeking shelter or even thinking about it I may add a few extra lines but that's all.

Heading up to boat to relax, have a cup of coffee and puff on a vapor cigar. No storm worries within the protected cove we simply refer to as the deep water resort on the Hudson.
