Here we go again.....

6-8 inches in Long Beach I am told.

None in S Florida:-)

A good 2 feet here on the north shore....the frame I built to hold up my canvas cover worked great...The winds kicked up as the storm pulled away, but the power is still on, generator is ready just in case.

6-8 in Long Beach. Not bad at all. I knew Long Beach wouldnt get much of anything.

Finally, it pays to live in long beach lol

Went to boat. Cockpit wrap was sagging but was able to bang it off. Front by bow was sagging a lot and I can't reach it as there is not enough room to squeeze up there. Went up through the forward v berth hatch and punched a hole in it and it was draining like crazy into anchor locker. Should be fine. Roads were mostly good. Sunrise is excellent. 347 is a mess.

Time to go out and make a path for the pups so they can get a running start to the back yard

speaking of the critters we havent heard from our featherd friend in a while.

I'd estimate about 20" - 24" here in Farmingdale. Glad I have my snowblower. Got a real treat this year. My wife and two kids actually suited up and came out and helped me. We all went out to lunch when it was finished, so it wound up being a nice day.

Just got done with my walk, drive and neighbor's drive. Wife said 'you stink' LOL..2 cycle snow blower, can't get a break eh.....

LOL, that 2 stroke smell is hard to get out... You'll smell like that for days!!! (actually was the exact reason I bought a 4 stroke machine!!!)

Why is LIE such a mess? I drove the whole length of sagtikos parkway today and it was fine. Sunrise was totally clear
Seems if you got out and plowed during storm it was better. Wait till its over and it's impassable.

Medford made the national record book as having the most snow in the entire state, 33.5"! We're south of the LIE and our snow total was about 24"-30" with drifts to 4'. I cleared the cars, the driveway, and part of the back yard. About 6 heavy pine tree branches broke last evening and filled a big part of the back yard. So much for our fall clean-up. It needs to be done over again, once I cut up the branches. No snow plow has appeared as yet so we can't get out of the driveway. I even tried to use the snow blower to clear a one-car wide lane to the avenue, about 125' away. The snow was just too deep; I gave up after one pass. I really would like to get to the marina to check the snow load on the boat, but that's still out of the question. The report and photos of the house which broke apart because of the snow load on the roof got me a little worried about our own house and the boat. There's nothing I can really do; I'm not climbing onto the roof to shovel the snow off of it. What will be will be. Hy

My roof looks ok.
My pool cover which is a loop loc is sagging like crazy.
I also have 20 tall arborvites that are bent over like a old man.

My street hasn't been plowed. Got over 5' in drifts...over the roof of the cars. Had to dig my front door out...couldn't open the front or back doors. Holy crap.

I looked this up because I have about 4 cubic feet of snow on bow on shrink wrap and I am concerned about pressure that puts on bow rail.
So 1 cubic foot of heavy wet snow weighs 20 lbs. so I probably have 80 lbs but its in sun and melting and draining so I feel I am ok.
But if you have 12 inches of snow on say 10' x 2' swim platform then your looking at 400 lbs. which is still not bad but its a good thing to know when looking at snow on boats, roofs, etc.

What ever snow doesn't melt today will get real heavy tomorrow. Flat roofs are in danger. Dave you should try to get that snow off the shrink wrap. Call me if you need a ladder. I have up to 12'.

Billy K.

Thanks Bill but it melted a lot. Going down later. It's gonna get warmer and with the hole I made it will drain into anchor locker.
I think it will be fine but will check and let you know.
Thanks again.

Dave, if you need a hand I'll be around all day also. Going to take a look at mine soon.

John, Drive by mine. I am 2 over from Walter on c dock. You will see the IPS.
I am not gonna go down today. I am sure it is fine. Thanks.

I took a ride down to the boat today to check things out. All looked well. I was surprised at how much less snow there was down there than what I got up at my house. I was over in East Meadow before I headed down to the boat. It seemed like they got a lot less than we did to. It's amazing how much difference there was from one area to another.
Anyway, the canal and the bay both seemed to be pretty well thawed out. It's almost 5:00 PM and the sun is still shining bright, and the forecast is for the forties all week. It won't be long now until the shrinkwrap comes off, the polishing/waxing begins, and I can start to plan to get back in the water.

They finally plowed our street last night but the roads around here are not good if you don't have a 4x4. Northport bay and even the Sound was glass smooth, beautiful.....
