Ole Delaware Jim here - thought I'd drop in to say hi to all my friends on the Chesapeake. My job relocated to Melbourne FL earlier this year and we brought the Chris Constellation down the ICW and are are full time live aboards. We are actually beginning to "take a liking" to the area (2 miles from the ocean off Indian River in the Banana River). Didnpt do much cruising this summer as it was too DA_ _ hot! But cooling off to mid 70's now and planning some runs before Christmas. No winterizing - hurray!

Anyway, thinking about you folks in the Chesapeake. Take care and Happy Holidays to all!

BTW - Les, how do I change my on line handle as "Delaware" isn't right anymore...?!

Hey Jim! I worked and lived in that area for a while several years back while on a consulting assignment for the State Department (actually lived in Satellite Beach; I think it was 2001). Used to hang out at a watering hole on the east side of the causeway into Indian Harbour. The place was the Purple Porpoise. Cold beer, good food, hot waitresses and live music. Since I was there "stag" I was hanging out at the Porpoise a lot! There was a guy named Dave that played guitar and sang there. Got along well with him... and the hot waitresses!

Mike, Good to hear from you! Believe it or not, we are in Indian Harbour Beach in the Banana River about 100 yards south of the Mather draw bridge. The Purple Porpoise is still here (although I've not been in yet...gotta do...).

I hope you are enjoying your new digs and are enjoying everything there is to like in the area! Seems like forever since we were on the Sassafras, but it has been since October 2008... time passes 'way too fast!

Take care and enjoy!

Jim

PS: I really miss the weekend breakfasts at the firehall...

Jim,
I haven't done the fire hall breakfast in a while (wife was not a fan) and Dixie Joe's is now a nice restaurant called the Galena Kitchen so I don't know where to go for a good cholestoeral overload in the morning. (Yes, my spelling sucks.)
