hello, i have my 23 proline in my driveway on my trailer. i have a chance to rent a nice slip in pompano 1/2 mile from Hillsboro Inlet for a good price. How is that inlet for a 23 foot boat? It doesn't look bad on Google Earth. How is it compared to Boynton Intlet?

Thanks

John

Much better...can still be a bit treacherous with on on-shore wind with outgoing tide, but it's the best one between Port Everglades and Lake Worth Inlet...Boynton just plain sucks...

Whoa down fellas, Boynton inlet can be a pain in the butt for larger slower vessel only . But you can transverse the inlet with no problem with a fast light boat ..I cannot due to my height restriction 21' + and the fact that I make 7kn. MAX height is 18' .... No problem go for it!

John, Hillsboro is not bad, just don't cut the markers at all and you'll be fine. It can get pretty crowded on weekends but it's manageable.

I have heard that the "Bare Foot Mail Man" used to walk across the inlet many years ago but I didn't think Brian would Snow Mobile through at low tide.

The inlet is easy to use. Stay well inside the markers.
On the way back in, it is a good idea to line up with the Sea Buoy and the inlet.
There is a part of the Reef on the South side of the inlet that can be above water at low tide so be sure to stay between the markers.
There is a cut threw the north rock jetty on the north side of the inlet that looks like it is the entrance to the inlet when coming in at night(Disaster if you make that mistake). Line up with the Sea Buoy and you will be OK. The Buoy has a blinking white light.
The first time you go out through the inlet, run out to the buoy stop and look towards the inlet. you will see what I'm describing here.
One more thing, The inlet is Dredged once in a while. Check back on BE when the Dredge is in place.
