Vic; I bought the Hold N Treat kit where I have my own holding tank. I have run into something in the directions the PuraSan "H1" terminal drives a relay I assume it puts out a ground when it calls for the transfer pump to transfer the Holding tanks contents to the PuraSan. My question is the fresh water valve that feeds the chlorine container also is supposed to have it's negative lead to H1. Should I simply wire the ground from the freshwater solenoid to ground and take the red wire through a fuse on the positive lead (isolated lead) to the same relay that turns on the transfer pump? Should I wire up another relay like the one for the transfer pump for the fresh water solenoid? Or does terminal H1 have the ability to do both without some strange back feed? I have to tell you the instructions for the Hold N Treat kit really appear to be written for the LectraSan. The PuraSan is a tiny picture on page 9 of the PDF. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Good Lord Bill, don't wire that wrong or the Admiral's poop might shoot right through the top of the flybridge!

That would not be a pretty sight Kurt but I doubt it would penetrate the hardtop! Actually the Elegance head was easy to wire. The Hold-N-Treat kit (use your own tank) and PuraSan manuals don't have a clear total system wiring schematic. I don't want to destroy the H1 output with a heavy current draw. H1 has to call for a ground activating the tank transfer pump which is controlled through the relay (blue wires) with the positive fuse on the coil side of the relay is 3 amps so I guess H1 would then be current limited at 3 amps? I probably should have done a quick hookup with a amp meter in line to see how much the freshwater solenoid draws, meaning using a small 12 volt source and not grounding it through the PuraSan.
Vic I can either emulate the transfer pump relay or simple wire the water valve across the hot from the relay to the transfer pump and the blue lead to ground. Am I over thinking this?

One other question but you did tell me to simply double up the tank sensor on the foil and re-calibrate. Should I do that or run 2 new strips and put bthe sender unit in the middle of the new strips? I think we need a phone call. Bill

Bill, the info in the Owner's Manual is more than little fuzzy, my apologies. Connect the solenoid valve to battery (+) and to H1. Connect the COIL on the macerator pump relay to battery (+) and S6 (not the pump itself, just the relay's coil). H1 and S6 are both negative switches. You won't need a relay for the fresh water solenoid valve; you're simply activating the coil to open and close it - very low power requirement.

The actual toilet is wired independently of the Hold 'N Treat system, as it merely pumps into the holding tank.

As far as the foil strips go for the holding tank, each foil strip needs to be between 15 and 40 square inches. If the edges overlap, don't count the overlap area, just the actual area facing you. The foil strips should be 2-4" apart with the sensor mounted between them.

If you still have questions, give me a call and I'll try to get you on the right track.

Thanks Vic. I would be willing to give you all my notes after we are finished on my type of set-up. Thanks for your assistance. Bill

Sounds like a plan; maybe there'll be something that the "brain trust" didn't think of, when writing the manual. As it is, they left out all reference to the macerator pump - at least in the manual I was looking at. So yes, I'd appreciate having a look at your notes!

I see a problem Vic S6 is supposed to go to the hold-n-treat brain terminal marked "out". H1 shows going to the low current side of the pump relay (blue wire to relay grounded side to activate the transfer pump relay. Now what? Perhaps I should call you when would be a good time tomorrow?

I had no problems with the head because as you stated it goes directly to the holding tank. I am curious though they mention EST on the head contrl what is "EST"?
Thanks Bill

This is good. If I end up with the Marine Elegance paired with my existing Electro Scan Hold 'n Treat, I'll have Bill's notes to go off of :-)

Bill, EST stands for Electro-scan; just ignore it.

You can double up the connections at either H1 or S6 without any problem. The screws on the terminal strip may not be long enough to connect two wires; you can get longer ones and replace them - they are #6-32 thread size.

I'll be here all day today (856) 825-4900, ext. 244

Vic no problems now I will pair up output 1 from the H-N-T module on S6 with the small solenoid on the freshwater valve that feeds the container. I will call if I have any issues. I will be back at the boat to finish the wiring this Friday. Thanks for the terminal strip 6-32 thread update. Thank you. Bill
