I used Snake River on my previous boat, but my 1987 Tolly 44 has other brands in it. Only one works.
My question is about the "other" gauges. If Snake River is running out of "parts", who are the other companies who make reliable units?
My aft head had two gauges. Forward and aft head gauges in the aft head. I think it would be better to put the gauge for the forward head IN the forward head. The only reason I can imagine for mounting it in the aft head is to keep the "info" about the holding tanks private. Can you think of any other reason?
To cover the hole in the cabinet in the aft head, we will use a sheet of 1/8 thick Mahogany. Pull the gauges out, put the sheet on, cut one new hole, install the single gauge, then put wallpaper over the wood.
All I need to do now is find a "proper" gauge for the forward head. It has a sheet of "foil" on the side of it, but when the two wires hanging loose are put against it, the gauge in the aft head does not "indicate" anything. My current thought is to replace the gauge in the back, run new wires up into forward head and install it in the cabinet. See any problems switching them?
Last and not least, is the fresh water tank. The gauge is inop and parts are missing, so I need to replace it. Again, only one tank will be on it. The wires seem to be intact.
The gauge is in the Galley. Wires appear to be intact, they are attached to "studs" that go through the fresh water tank. I guess any reliable gage will work. Suggestions?
