Probably preaching to the choir, but thought I'd share what we saw on safety patrol yesterday. At a popular anchorage/beach area, many folks enjoying themselves, mostly considerately. Still, lots of waking anchored boats, especially transients trying to get a little rest before moving on. Some outright bullying by operator of one larger craft. Definitely Reckless/Negligent Operation. Then an accident in the same area when the operator floored the throttle without checking on passengers. We had us, a CG boat, and a fire rescue crew respond. Split scalp, medical evacuation. Please get in the habit of telling your people what you're going to do. When you get ready to move out, yell COMMINUP, and don't hit it till you hear as many echoes as crew. Later in the day, many boats with one or more running lights out, or none displayed, or running with docking lights. Please check your lights before you go out. It's going to be pretty and you might stay for the sunset or the fireworks. Have a great day, and be safe! I'll let you know how it goes tomorrow...
