I read somewhere before but forgot. Where the Ocean meets the sky, approx how many miles out is that. Thanks.

at sea level, it's about 3 miles. Standing at the helm of your boat, about 10' from the sea to your eyes, it's about 4 miles. It's a good rule of thumb to say that, if you can see the sand on the beach, you are about 5 miles offshore.
