hour meter connection

getting ready to put her out for the summer and have noticed hour meter on one engine does not appear to be working , are these operated any time the key is on or does the enginr have to be running and where do the connect at

They should be wired to run when the igition is in the "run" position...engien running or not. If one is not working...it could either be the gauge or the connection. Check the connection first as it would be easiest to fix. Are they mounted just above the shift/throttle levers? If they are, it's a hell of a place to get to, but it is doable
