Hi everybody - I've been away from the keyboard a lot this month, so was wondering how the Holidays have gone so far for everyone! I hope that Hanukkah and Christmas was wonderful for all you Carver folk out there, and that the upcoming New Year is equally terrific!

So are there any boating-related New Years Resolutions out there???

Hey Pete!
We had a great Christmas with family and friends and fewer store bought gifts. We host a Christmas Eve party every year and this year when asked "what can we bring," our response was "a home baked goodie to share" Not only were the appetizers and desserts awesome, it deferred some of the party costs. It was an AWESOME time. With a huge income reduction in '09, God truly blessed us and His grace saw us through. 2010 will only be better! Boating related resolutions for me --- quit smoking aboard and ashore!

Happy New Year everyone,

We had a very nice Christmas. Spending time with family and friends. We are spending NYE on our boat. We keep the boat at a Yacht Club that has a very nice dinner, a band, etc. No driving!!

Let's hope 2010 brings good health and happiness to all.

Had a great Christmas and looking forward to what the new year brings. Hope everyone has a safe, happy, healthy new year!

This has been a special year for us. We just moved to Melbourne (Indian Harbour Beach) Florida. We are living on the boat. It has been a blast so far. Unseasonably cold, but still much better than Ohio. Yesterday was beautiful. There are dolphins everywhere just off the swim platform.
There have been a few challenges. I am now an expert on the internal workings of the vacuflush toilet system. Had to replace a pump...There is no "clean" way to deal with poo. Finding lots of little projects to enhance the boat. Made a trip to Marine Liquidators in Ft. Pierce. It's no BoatFix, but still very handy. This is going to be a lot of fun. The water energizes me.. I wish you all the best for the new year.

Great holiday season for me. I got to see my 4 year old nephew and 1.5 year old niece that I don't get to see very often. We had our annual New Years day dinner tonight and it was great to see my family all together and we are all very thankful my 86 yo grandmother was with us again this holiday season.

This season has given me time to reflect on my good fortune in life and I am committing to helping others in the coming year. I am reaching the point in life (started my 30's this year) where I am giving more than I am receiving and I have to say it feels good! I have had my best year yet and am very thankful in spite of the current economic conditions. I am hopeful for the coming year, but do expect to be a bit down due to the economy. As long as I have my family, health, a decent job, a few bucks in the bank, and a boat to cruise on, I think it will be ok!

I do catering on the side and have one last party to do tomorrow then things will slow down for me. My helper backed out and I have 125 people for a high end hors d'oeuvres party tomorrow night....better get to bed!

I plan to finish my house remodeling (self) in January and February, then on to making improvements to the new boat in March/April and I am looking forward to the coming boating season!

Best wishes to all for a great start to a new decade and a prosperous 2010!

Jim

Well since Thanksgiving I've been real bizzy being a FedEx contractor ( thanks to all who use the net for your shopping needs :) it was a real good peak season for me and my drivers. and in February I'll be a Grandpa for the first time. This month I've got a bunch of honey-do's on the house to do.
In mid February I'm hauling and having the props tuned and wax the hull, any input on the props ? they're 22x22 4 blades would like to get better cruise fuel mileage top end is not that big a deal maybe I'll make a post on that one. But all in all 2009 was good to us got a new fedex route and made a little money. I guess that's all I could hope for in these time's

We spent the Holidays in New Zealand. It is an absolutely beautiful country. However, Christmas decorations/music/celebration was almost non-existent. Didn't feel like Christmas at all. Still a wonderful time . . . Last night and night before we finally had our full family Christmas. Great time was had by all . . .

Hi guys, thanks for the responses, sorry it took me a few days to come on here and read them. Sounds like you all were truly blessed...

This was my 10 year old son's first "post-Santa" Christmas, and since he has no siblings to play Santa for, we wanted to make it special. I bought him some "real" trains (HO scale) to replace the battery powered stuff we've had running around the Christmas tree for years. And, as a real treat (for Jr AND for Dad) we dug up my Dad's old Lionel sets out of the attic, cleaned and oiled the Hell out of em, and fired them up. The old 1947 model 2020 locomotive (O27 scale) pulling the green and yellow Hillside and Maplewood cars around the oval brought back a lot of childhood memories. As did the buzzing Cow Car where the little rubber cows "walk" in and out of the car automatically. The technology is ancient (kinda like my boats LOL) but it sure was a lot of fun!!!

We have never been more broke than we were this Christmas, but still it was one of the best ones ever...

Probably a lesson in there somewhere. :)

Good but cold winter. Our family went to the Riviera Maya in Mexico the week before Christmas. Spent a week at a all inclusive 4 star hotel with an ocean front room. We visited Chichen-Itza, Xcaret, snorkeled, and swam with dolphins. One of the best non-boating vacations. It definately has helped the winter pass by a little quicker. I think we are ready to go back next winter. But we can't wait for the new boating season.
