NEW YORK – SHINNECOCK BAY TO EAST ROCKAWAY INLET – STATE BOAT CHANNEL - Bridge Painting/Channel Restrictions
– Painting of northbound spans of the Robert Moses Causeway across State Boat Channel at mile 30.7 will commence on March 31, 2008. A painting
platform will be installed across the entire main span which will reduce the vertical clearance by 3.5 feet. The bridge will be unable to open for
vessel traffic between March 31 and June 15 2008. A work barge measuring 15 ft by 45ft will be moored tightly against the bridge fender on either
side of the navigation channel during construction. All vessels capable of passing under the closed draw may do so at anytime.
The painting is expected to be completed by June 15, 2008. Mariners are advised to exercise caution when transiting the area.

NEW YORK – SHINNECOCK BAY TO EAST ROCKAWAY INLET – STATE BOAT CHANNEL – Notice of Temporary Deviation from

All you sailboats and flybridge/tuna tower sportfishermen better watch your heads. Plan your trips accordingly cause she ain't a opening from 3/31 to 6/15 and she's 3.5 feet shorter too.

Sorry if this is a stupid question - so according to my chart vertical clearance on the main span is normally 60 feet - is this the section they are referring to?

I think this is the area by captree ? That is the state channel.

Yes...........I don't think any of us need to worry about clearance mid span on north side of the RM bridge.

Maybe someday...........

Yup Global Warming... It will raise the water in the GSB by about 50 feet..... We will be stuck going east of the RM Bridge until they raise the bridge... I will have water front property since I am about 1/2 mile north of the Brightwaters Canal. Rob will not have to worry about buoys, deep water all though Merrick.

.........and my property will be its own little island...........I like it !!!
