Hurricane Earl coming our way?

Roughest part of last nite was the hangover this morning from all the Gin I drank!
Earl was a wimp but we will take it!

After the beating I took in March, I'm happy to be disappointed in Earl.

Now that the storm is gone it got windy! Staying at Liberty Landing an extra night, have already seen one docking collision due to the wind.

Sitting at dock here. Wind is strong out of west to sw. Bay is pure white caps. Definately windier than last nite.

Hopefully all is well today. Heading out in a few minutes to take the little cc for a nice little ocean run.

I spent most of the day and evening down at my dock yesterday. It was very windy for most of the afternoon and the bay had whitecaps, but overall it was beautiful. I put my canvas back up. Taking it down Friday turned out to be overkill, but it gave me a good excuse to give it a good scrub down.
I left at about 8:30, and everything seemed to have gotten pretty calm. The canal and the bay looked to be pretty flat. Or maybe it was just the gin and tonics that made it seem that way.
Looks like we are in for more of the same type of weather today. It's pretty breezy here at home, so I imagine it's blowing down on the bay. No more boating related activities for me this weekend. We have a BBQ today, and tomorrow will be spent getting the kids ready for back to school day Tuesday.
I'm looking forward to next weekend though. I think I actually like spring and fall boating better than I do the summer.

It's like Earl was a spinning vortex that sucked all the winds out of the west.
Blowing pretty good again today.
I also put all my canvas back up yesterday and cleaned it all.
I lost 3 snaps pulling it off so I want to give a huge shout out to AMC Canvas in Copiauge.
Tony does me right, fixed, no charge.
It's the only canvas shop I will use!

Not leaving dock again today, whats the point.
I gotta tell you, my 2nd season on D dock here and you look out on the water and your like, why leave?
Great views and good times are had right here!

I hope this wind dies by tommorrow or it will be interesting watching all the boats come back from labor day weekend!

Yeah, being close to the bay is pretty nice. I have a pretty decent view of it from my slip, plus I get the breezes from it on the hot days.
There are a lot worse ways to spend the day.

Well we're at Watch Hill enjoying a very nice summer afternoon. Quite a dock party going on already, marina is about half full. Should be an interesting Friday....

Brian,

How did you fare with the Friday and Saturday winds?
