I am now 100 miles from home on the last leg of vacation.
Long Islands south shore to Newport ,RI
Twin 454's .. one engine.. every hour or so running at 3400 rpms, makes a popping noise, backfire? and then stalls. I smell gas and can restart it, then it runs fine for a while.Another hours or so.
Replaced the wires last year. replaced the coil at our last port, tuned up 2 1/2 years ago.
Is this an Ignition problem?
Carborator?
I wan't to go to Montauk and then run the ocean back home, but am considering running inland. Which means maybe running aground. No local mechanics on the weekend have returned my calls.
