For those of you who followed my intermittent posts regarding my boat's 6-year periodic maintenance replacements that fell due this spring, I'm here to let you know that:
1) nothing leaked
2) nothing cracked
3) all systems nominal
Fired her up yesterday and ran the engine for a good 20 minutes. Changed out the oil. Realized that MerC oil filters are a pain in the ass since my local WM is a good 45 minute drive and usually doesn't have what I'm looking for...so I went to the Napa store here in town and locked into a good supply of Napa Gold (Wix) oil filters. Not only are they a taller filter, but color-keyed to the engine! (We boaters tend to be weird when it comes to the boat!)
That was a good thread on oil filters last week...another benefit of BE. Another good thread was the bilge pump one. My old Mayfair had to be replaced since the "auto" feature was no longer working. Installed a nice Rule pump.
So...mechanicals are done. Vinyl is filthy and that's what I'm going to do today...clean!
I called Radioguy (Jason) and held the phone up to the stern when the engine was running...there was a long pause and he finally asked.."Is that the sound of a marine V8 on a muff?"
I got him all stirred up.
