For my little 12' lake boat. I'll put the Red plastic on front left, Green on the Right.
I just need some pieces of Plastic.
But I'll take what I can get.
 
Ahh, I thought you were preparing to go to a 3D movie.

If there is a plastics recycling collection center near you , you might be able to find some suitably-colored containers there to cut up.

7-Up for green ?

If not, I've read that RIT dye may color clear acrylic but it may have to be roughed up a bit.

Will you be able to keep the candles lit? :D
 
Are you trying to rig up a bow combo light? Those things are so cheap, it's really not worth the effort.
 
I see where wallwart has a 12v bow light for $11 plus tax ( free shipping )

Of course, "re-purposed" plastic could be cheaper... :)
 
My old Uncle had one of those Red/Green clamp-on lights for his old wooden Row Boat.

I want to do this with the ultra-bright LED's.

I'll use a Lawn mower battery instead of a skinny guy on a Bicycle generator.

You could use colored LEDs and clear plastic lens. The color purity will be better and efficiency higher than if you attempt to use a white LED and colored lens.

( Most white LEDS are actually a hybrid type device; that is the LED is actually yellow with special phosphors plus blue to produce a broad color spectrum. Color LEDS actually produce only the color observed. ) Using colored LEDs would solve the problem and give better results in the process.

Just an idea of course. Use what you have... ;)
 
Good Idea Bill. I see Colored LED's on Ebay.
I'll get some and see if they can be seen a few yards away.
If not, then LOT's of LED's will work better eh?
 
If you are making your own, don't forget the angle of viewing is very specific as far as CG regulations go.
 
Yup. I'll have it parallel to a bit over 10 Degrees.

I guess the Reg's weren't closely enforced in our old wood boats that dived and rolled in the Puget Sound waters.
 
I didn't see a boat for $45 in that link but I did see one heckuva lot of interesting stuff for sale.
I'm sticking with my project idea for now.
 
Boy there's a bunch of great stuff on that site.

I finally got some lens's from scrounging through other guy's Barns.

The WalMart here was $10 higher than our local fishing/Sporting goods store.
I got the 360 Degree light, and receptical for $36.
