I asked my wife to grab me 2 gallons of Oil for our 150 Merc Saltwater. I told her what it looked like(Black bottle red letters...)
She had them when I picked her up Saturday. I filled the reservior with both gallons and never noticed the oil color(Red).
Just as the 2nd bottle was empty I looked at it and it's Synthetic Optimax Oil. My oil was always "Greenish". I believe TC-3. This bottle says, "Not to be used on engines requiring TC-3" I'm assuming I'm porked, will have to pull and fully drain the oil out($90 worth), then refill it($90 worth)...
Anyone familiar with these different oils and why Mercury would put all oil in the same GD black bottles with GD red letters?
