Got the boys and James out on the boat for the first time this year. We went out to our local lake, Raystown, in central PA on Sunday. What a zoo! Some idiot in a houseboat with a 20 foot Larson strapped to the side was hogging up all the good places to pull the tube. It seems that everywhere we went, this guy showed up.
 
He posted is of his Raystown trip on Facebook. Safer than a Block
Island trip!
 
Why didn't you just shoot him..... Oops..... thought you were in Baltimore..... Sorry!
 
Try Miami/Biscayne Bay on a Sunday. I felt lucky to live through it.

David, I resemble that remark! ;-)
 
I know a couple there that have a Carver 42 Mariner...been to the lake a couple of times. Always seems really crowded and not a lot of common sense floating about.
 
I keep my boat on Lake Powell and typically never use it on holiday weekends but due to scheduling issues I went out for 6 days over the Memorial Day weekend and was really surprised that we pretty much had the lake to our selves once we got north of Padre Bay.

A pleasant trip was had with all our favorite spots available to beach for the night.
 
We cruised up ICW to Venice n back, 120 mile round trip, had a great time, even with the extra traffic. The bridgemasters were the most courteous and accomodating I've ever worked with.
 
That's what makes the Bowline wall so great! It's keeps it from getting crowded.

Although some knucklhead(s) put a buoy right in the middle of it, should make for plenty of business for Sea Tow

George not to be a ball buster, but Raystown Lake is over 8000 acres, how can you not outrun a houseboat to find somewhere to tube?

Holiday boating chaos is why when I'm not working on holidays, I never go near the busy spots in my boat.

It's also why when I AM working, I always end up having to go to those spots on a boat.

Sorry about that. I had rented the houseboat and needed the runabout to tube with the family. I didn't know the lake too well and decided to follow you to all the good spots so i'd know where was a good place to pull my kids on the tube. When I rented the houseboat, they failed to mention or give me notice that Raystown was your lake and that I should make sure to leave any cove your in to yourself. Note to self for next time, don't worry. Oh, since it's your lake, please refund my local taxes that help support the lake. I'll pm my address so you can send the check direct. Thanks.

Near Haverstraw Marina along the shore of the Hudson, is an old pit style clay mine, which was eventually flooded by the river (long story short). Where river 'enters' the mine, the entrance has a submerged wall blocking approx. 1/2 - 2/3 of the 'apparent' channel . . . to make things more interesting, the wall is submerged except for Low Low water - so unless you know were it is (or isn't) it's rather difficult to get into the beautiful protected cove that once was a pit mine.
