In bad economy, boat owners abandon their vessels

I hear you can turn your unwanted, unloved and maybe illegitimate boat in at any hospital or fire station with no questions asked...More humane that dumping them in Cache Slough

"a small sailing craft is not only beautiful, it is seductive and full of strange promise and the hint of trouble..."

Mayberry is the newest boating junk yard since Sac County seems to be ignoring that problem......

Great boat deals in this market. I got my 01 Bayliner 2855 for 22k..only 100 hrs on the 350 Mag MPI Bravo 3.

Why havent prices on boating products come down as well? PFDs, GPS they are all still sky high.

Mayberry must be getting really crowded. Soon they'll be hauling them over to Delta Coves. I can just see the lash barges rounding Piper Slough about now.

UpperDeck, bite your tongue!!!!

Actually last weekend I heard at the SJYC that the opening into Delta Coves had been closed off to prevent access from the water. Guess there will be no more water skiing in there either.

Delta Coves = Bethel Island Boondoggle

You'll be seeing that same story in the upcomming Sunday Sac Bee (with more photos).

In my dreams...

Wayne,
Did you buy your 2855 through a broker or from a private party. Just for curiosity: how much was the original asking price?

Watch for a TV report on Tuesday the 25th on KTVU ch2 during the 10:00 PM hour.

Check that...Sunday the 23rd on KTVU during the 10:00 broadcast

I heard a sound bite on the radio KBLX something to the effect the economy is taking a toll on the waterways and you are paying to clean it up story at 10 Sunday on KTVU news.

Just saw the "special report". The impact of the economy on boating and boaters is not small. The boat abandonment situation is a sad thing on many fronts, environmental as well as financial. Phil, you looked good in HD.
