Over the weekend we invited everyone out to the lake for Fathers Day, took the kids tubing and just hung out. It wasn't a very good day, it rained but we were getting wet anyways. Well, the family could only take so much rain so we headed in. This lake is small, about 260 acres, there is one dock and you can only launch/retrieve on one side of it with room to beach a few boats to the right of the dock. I was waiting for someone to pull away from the dock after loading and there was a boat in front of me...not sure what this guy was doing. he didn't pull up to the dock, he beached his boat next to it so I pulled up to the dock got out and headed for the truck...which was only about 50 feet away. While on the way to the truck the guy (in his truck) backing toward the dock says "you aren't just going to leave your boat there are you". I said "yeah, I'm gonna back in, load it up and pull out of the way". He went on to say "the way we do it around here is to beach the boat, back the trailer into the water next to the dock and then drive the boat onto the trailer". First of all, I've never found a need to drive my boat on to my trailer. Second of all, the way I do it is a heck of a lot faster than the way he did it. Apparently he's never gone out fishing in 50/60 degree weather while the water is barely above freezing. I'd like to see him push his boat off the beach and not get wet in the process. He was definately not very polite and acted as if he owned the damn lake and dock. I don't spend much time at this lake but I was just curious if anyone else thinks I'm the inconsiderate jerk here. Now, in one guy's mind, I have been labeled an inconsiderate boater and it bugs the crap out of me. Should I follow this guy's rules or just continue doing it my way? I thought about driving to the dock and just watching how everyone else does it but it's kind of a long drive just to do that. Any input on the issue would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.
