You don't have to join boatered, but most of us do as a sign of support for what Les has done here.
It is still 38kb for each message and I don't care, but Les will and eventually he will pull the plug on your signature file.

Hey Tom,
The problem is when you surf on a PDA, your picture f-up the screen (to large). When I use my PDA I go to Boated.com instead of boatered.com, no aviators. This helps to load the site faster and my screen can handle it.

Like Dave said, if Les sees this he will tell you to remove it.
